It was surprisingly non-freakshow as these articles tend to be. Also the first time I've ever heard a mainstream source say "Lolicon != Pedophilia, they're just FREAKING OUT THE SQUARES" which isn't entirely true for the whole subculture, of course. It might have leaned a bit too far to the side of "totally harmless", but it was closer to how I see it than most of the sensationalistic junk that gets reported and disseminated about otaku.That's not to say I entirely like that it exists, I don't particularly consider mainstream coverage to be a good thing, merely inevitable. I already can't buy Take On Me/Domin-8 or Pink Sniper up here, I'm not particularly looking forward to society at large taking any sort of deeper look at the kind of deviant shit that winds up on my hard drive.
